Oh Baby It's Cold Outside

Winter's finally here, and though I must say I hate the cold , I do love winter attire. I love the big sweaters, the scarves, the hats, boots, and especially layering. I also love when it isn't to cold outside and you go out and when you come in you have rosy cheeks and what I like to call winter face. It's been extremely cold here so all I'm getting is a red nose and I'm pretty sure Rudolph has nothing on me.

It doesn't seem like this weather is going away anytime soon so I thought I'd talk about winter layering. First things first, no matter where I am whether in school so outside I always have a scarf on, I think thats going to be my winter accessory for this year. I do have quite a few scarfs. Another thing I have been loving is leg warmers. Now that may sound weird and when my I first saw then I though WTF, when am I ever going to use these, but since I take public transportation home they have been life savors and their cute. I have four colors, brown, creme, purple , and a light pink. A lot of people think they are just long socks and are usually surprised to know that they're not. I tend to wear them with my boots and match my scarf to them.

I'm not much of a hat person but I will wear one now and then. The great thing about hats is that you can wear them as a fashion statement or because your heads cold. I also love gloves, I think I have way too many! There are a few normal ones but I have a few that aren't. I just had to get texting gloves and no finger gloves.
Everyone should rock winter accessories in their own way. I hope this helped and maybe you'll try leg warmers and texting gloves too. Thanks for reading :)

Perfect?

Reading isn't something many people enjoy. I never thought that reading would be something that I like, until I found the right book. I started off with adventure and teen fiction, but one day while I was searching up book to order I fond the book Perfect by Ellen Hopkins. This was the type of book that wasn't just for enjoyment, but for purpose. This book was written to teach a lesson. The book is four combined stories of modern teenagers. Each of who see perfect as something different. Perfect is different for everyone; your perfect may be different from mine or someone else.  This book shows the lives of four teens who are all trying to achieve their perfect, yet no two people have the same goal.
One of the character is a Beauty Queen, her idea of perfect is trying to look perfect. She's willing to go to all measure whether its surgery or drugs to have the perfect appearance. This is the one that's most common among teen girls. Everyone is trying to be a model when in reality everyone has their own beauty, whether you believe it or not. You shouldn't change yourself for anyone, not for a comment someone made or for the perspective of the media's beauty. People, especially teens, make comments about someones appearance because of jealousy or attention. Never believe anyone when
they tell you that you aren't beautiful. You shouldn't listen to the media's perception of beauty because its always changing. Just because they something is beautiful today doesn't mean it will be beautiful tomorrow. I've noticed and I'm pretty sure everyone else has that trying to lose weight and be skinny has been a trend ever since I can remember.  So many people think that being a size 0 means your beautiful, but its not true. That trend may change in the next 10 yrs,  believe it or not being skinny a long time ago wasn't considered beautiful. It meant that you weren't wealthy enough to eat. You had to be as big as possible to be considered beautiful. Yet that all changed, just like being extremely skinny will go out of style one day.  Your beautiful in every size and if someone doesn't like you because of your size then they don't deserve to be in your life. Everyone was put in your life to be either a blessing or a lesson.
You shouldn't change for anyone. Another character in the book had the perception that being the ultimate athlete was perfect. Just like girls, guys also have their own perception of perfect, but the same rules apply. You shouldn't change yourself for anyone. Being the ultimate athlete isn't something that's going to make people like you more, and if that is something that makes people like you more than they're not real friends. People should like you for YOU, not for the way you look or how many touchdowns you can get. Being big and buff doesn't mean your a better person. You shouldn't workout for hours unless its something you enjoy or its for yourself. Another character believed that reaching her parent's expectations made her perfect.
I get that everyone wants to make their parents proud, but if its driving your insane then it isn't healthy. You shouldn't try and live your parents dream for them. Yes, making your parents proud is important but you have to understand that even though they may not show it your parents will always be proud of you. You could seriously damage yourself if your main priority is trying to reach impossible expectations. Be yourself and try your hardest and your parents will most definitely be proud of you. The last character in the book was trying to achieve acceptation from his parents.
His perfect was to be the perfect performer, while his parents perfect was to be the perfect doctor. Again you can't let your parents decide your life for you.  Yes, you can try and please them and try to make your parents proud. But at the end of the day its YOUR life. You should chose how to live it. Basically all I'm trying to say is that Perfect isn't the same for everyone so don't try and make yourself "perfect".  In the back of the book there's a poem of some sort.
Perfect?
How do you define a word without concrete meaning? To each his own , the saying goes, so
Why push to attain an ideal state of being that no two random people will agree is
Where you want to be? Faultless, Finished, Incomparable, People can never be these, and anyway,
When did creating a flawless facade become a more vital goal than learning to love the person
Who lives inside your skin? The outside belongs to others. Only you should decide for you-
What is perfect.

This is one of the most inspirational poems ever. So just remember that perfect is for you to decide. I definitely recommend this book. :) Thanks for reading and if you have any questions be sure to email me :)

Closet Dash

Let me start off by saying sorry that I haven't blogged in a while but school has started and getting adjusted to a new school has taken up most of my time. Moving on, I can't wait to tell you guys about Closet Dash. While in school the fashion club took a trip to the city to this store called Closet Dash. After we had spend hours learning about fashion history we were finally able to go shopping! Prior to our trip to Closet Dash we had been told to bring in 10 items of clothing or purses that we could exchange at Closet Dash. Closet Dash is a small store in Manhattan that recycles clothing. We had paid $10 to exchange 10 items of clothing for store credit. You may also purchase clothes at Closet Dash as well as swap them.
Once you go to Closet Dash they examine your clothes and give you a credit amount. With that credit you can purchase something in the store. If it has a colored sticker you can use your credits, if not you can use half your credits and pay the other half in cash. For example if a dress is $20 and doesn't have a sticker you can use 10 credits and pay $10 in cash. I will be honest, my expectations were not high. That changed when I got to Closet Dash. They had EVERYTHING!!! From designer clothes to clothes you could find a Walmart, from size 0 to size 10, from shoes to bags to clothes to jewelry. They had all types of clothing; vintage or modern, and they were all in amazing condition.
When clothes or bags are brought into Closet Dash they are closely examined for any rips, stains, or even if it looks a little worn out. I was able to use all my credits and get clothes that would have cost me so much. I didn't pay a dime because with the clothes I had brought in I had enough credits. Another great thing is that if any clothes or bags weren't accepted you had the choice of giving them to Goodwill or keeping them. I totally recommend Closet Dash, you won't regret going there! Here are some of the clothes that I got :)
Love-Live Shirt

Pink Shirt

Floral Dress

Thick Dark Purple Cardigan

Tan and White Striped Sweater

Navy Blue Shorts

Covergirl : Flame out Mascara

Since school is starting I thought I would get a new mascara. I didn't wanna get the ones that everyone has because there too "mainstream". Haha no but really I wanted to try the flamed out mascara. I hadn't heard of it , until I went to the covergirl section. I thought the packaging was soo adorable, and not to mention, its WATERPROOF!!! Which may not be a big deal for most people but it is for me since I wear contacts and with other mascara when my eye itches the mascara goes everywhere. There were a few shades between brown and black. I got it in the shade Very Black.

The second I got home I had to try it on. I don't really like it when you can notice that you have mascara on and I was worried that after the first coat it would be obvious that I have mascara, but that wasn't the case (Thank God). It looked natural yet made my lashes look amazing!!! I had to put another coat on to experiment and if you like it when it looks like you have mascara on then this is also the mascara for you.
The only problem I had was that it said it was a volumizing mascara, yet I didn't see a great difference when it came to volume, but it does make your lashes look extremely long. Overall I think I'm obsessed. One of the best mascaras I've tried and I'll definitely be using it up :)
Hope everyone is having a great day and has a wonderful first day of school :)

What's in my School Bag?

School's started for so many people. I haven't started yet but its only a few days away. Saying that I'm nervous is an understatement. I'm freaking out!!!! But at least I'm confident about what to bring to school. I thought I'd make a video to help you guys out too. School can be stressful but having the right things can ease your school burden. Hope this help. Rock the school year and remember the best accessory is your smile :) And your personality is your best look.
